Crime Rates in the Jewellery Quarter

I believe that just taking a look at the crime rates of a place says a lot about what that place is like.

I recently looked up the crime rates of the Jewellery Quarter on the Police.uk website. You will find below maps illustrating the number of crimes reported in the Jewellery Quarter over the last 5 months, as well as a list with the types of crimes committed. These are my own graphic representations, though if you wish to view the official maps, you can find an interactive map tool at the link above.

Here is a brief account of my observations as I was exploring the crime maps:

There seems to be a relationship between the main areas with high rates of crime, and empty buildings/places. It is interesting to note that many of the areas around which the highest number of crime occurs are characterised by a high rate of derelict, vacant or disused buildings and places.
Some of these seem to be the following:
The area around Carver Street - Tenby Street - Legge Lane - Albion Street,
The area around George Street - Charlotte Street - Newhall Street,
The area around Constitution Hill - Livery Street - Great Hampton Street,
Also, though in a seemingly lower number, crime frequently occurs around the following areas:
The area around Augusta Street - Northampton Street
The area around Regent Place - Regent Parade.
