A first glimpse of Birmingham
I have never properly visited Birmingham before finding out that our focus in our third year at university will be the Jewellery Quarter. I have passed through the city, on my way to a couple of conferences that I attended, and visited the University of Birmingham, however, that would never be enough time to get a real feel of a place, especially if it is as vast and diverse as Birmingham.
My first tour in Birmingham was together with my university colleagues, to explore the site that we will be working on for 7 full months in our third year. I love discovering new places, and also taking a little bit of them back home with me - whether that is a photograph, an overall impression, a short sentence that stuck in my head, the memory of a kind and smiling person. I believe the places we see and inhabit will always leave a mark in our hearts, and shape the way we think.
